Step 4: Confirm your banking information and provide consent for verification
Step 5: Submit the application and wait for confirmation SMS
Step 6: Reconfirm eligibility monthly via the same portal
Applications can also be submitted using GovChat, Facebook Messenger, or WhatsApp platforms officially linked to SASSA
Eligibility Criteria for 2025
South African citizens, permanent residents, or refugees with valid ID
Between the ages of 18 and 59
Currently unemployed and not receiving other social grants (excluding child grant)
Monthly income must be below R624 threshold
Must not be receiving UIF, NSFAS, or any government-funded support
