SASSA Budget 3.0 Update: R370 SRD Grant Extended to 2026, August 2025 Payment Details

The South African government has officially confirmed in the SASSA Budget 3.0 update that the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant has been increased to R370 and will be extended until March 2026. This update comes as part of the latest fiscal policy strategy to support unemployed individuals and vulnerable citizens. The new grant amount will be paid from August 2025 onwards.

Grant Details

• The increase from R350 to R370 is effective from 1 August 2025
• Payments will continue monthly through bank accounts, Postbank, and retail partners

August 2025 SRD Payment Dates

• Funds may take up to 2 to 3 working days to reflect in the beneficiary’s bank account

Who Qualifies for the R370 SRD Grant

• South African citizens, permanent residents or refugees
• Between the ages of 18 and 59 years
• Not receiving other social grants or UIF
• Monthly income less than R624
• Must have passed SASSA’s monthly means test
